The Charaka Jayanthi, commemorating the birth anniversary of the great Acharya Charaka, was celebrated with academic fervor and traditional reverence on Shravana Masa, Shukla Paksha Panchami – corresponding to August 29, 2025 – at the Ayurvedic College and Hospital, RK University, Rajkot. The event was jointly organized by the Departments of Ayurveda Samhita, Siddhanta, and Kayachikitsa.

The programme commenced with Deepa Prajwalana, followed by Dhanvantari Sthavana, Saraswati Vandana, and Charaka Samhita Pathana, setting a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The event was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Sagar Patel, Registrar, RK University, and was formally inaugurated with a welcome address & inspiring speech by Dr. Manoj Pande, Director,Ayurvedic College and Hospital, RK University, Rajkot.

Key Highlights:

1. Role Play – Sambhasha Parishad A captivating role play based on the Sambhasha Parishad from Yajjahpurushiya Adhyaya of the Charaka Samhita was performed by First Prof. B.A.M.S. students (Batch 2024) under the able guidance of Dr. Avinash Kanasagara. The enactment brought to life the classical dialogues and philosophical depth of ancient Ayurvedic discourse.

2. Charaka Tatvabodha 3.0 – A Quiz Competition To promote deeper engagement with Samhita concepts, Charaka Tatvabodha 3.0, a quiz competition, was organized in the SOE Seminar Hall. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from all batches, with 15 teams comprising 3 members each. The quiz included a variety of engaging rounds such as identification, shloka completion, Fastest Finger, MCQs, Dum charades, words puzzle and Rapid fire. The audience also actively participated, making it a vibrant and knowledge-enriching session.

3. National-Level Documentary Competition :A national-level documentary competition was organized as part of the celebrations. The last date for submission was 5th August 2025, and entries focused on themes related to Dinacharya, Sadvrutta, Rutucahrya, Janapadodhwamsa, Ayurveda Unfiltered- navigating the challenges of Social media.

4. Student Felicitation Students who demonstrated outstanding academic performance in the subjects of Charaka Samhita and Samhita Adhyayana during university examinations were felicitated for their scholarly excellence and dedication.

5. Sanskrit Club Inauguration On this momentous occasion, the Sanskrit Club of the college was also inaugurated by Chief guest Dr Ketaki Ramani, Head, HRD, Mrs. Bhavana Vacchani, Head, SOAC, RK University. The club promises to be a platform for students to engage in regular Sanskrit reading, recitation, and academic enrichment.
