On 08 January 2024, RK University Ayurvedic college and hospital, department of Agadtantra and Vidhivaidyakam conducted educational visit to FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) Rajkot. This visit led by Dr Pankaj Bhange and Dr Shivangi Malaviya. We would like to thank D.B. Changela (Deputy director of FSL, Rajkot) for her corporation and giving us permission to visit FSL.

56 students were divided into two groups and alternately visited four departments of FSL. This was an excellent opportunity for them to gain insights into various aspects of forensic science.

Physical department: Students learned about the analysis of items such as weapons, clothing, and other objects related to a crime scene to reconstruct events and gather crucial information for investigations.

Toxicology department: Students observed analysis of biological samples to detect the presence of drugs, poisons, or other toxic substances and the techniques used in toxicological analysis.

Fingerprint department: Students understand how fingerprint patterns are unique to each person and how forensic experts collect, analyse, and compare fingerprints to aid in criminal investigations.

Biology department: Students learned how biological evidence is collected, processed & analysed to contribute valuable information to criminal investigations.

This visit provide students with a practical understanding of forensic science applications and methodologies, enhancing their knowledge beyond theoretical learning in the classroom.
