Ayurvedic College and Hospital RK University, Rajkot, undertook a significant initiative to combat the growing mosquito menace by observing a "Dry Day" on RK University campus. This program aimed at reducing mosquito breeding grounds by eliminating stagnant water sources, thereby decreasing the incidence of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya.

Drives (22.7.2024, Monday)

A thorough inspection of the campus was carried out to identify potential mosquito breeding sites. Teams of volunteers (Final year students, ACH) under the guidance of Dr. Deepty Nair (Director, ACH) and Dr. Shreekant Mundada (Associate Professor, ACH) participated in clean-up drives to remove any stagnant water sources. Water containers, coolers, flower pots, and other items that could hold water were emptied, cleaned, and turned upside down to prevent water accumulation.

The university's maintenance team applied larvicides in potential breeding sites to kill mosquito larvae.

Weekly monitoring will be undertaken further
