Transitional Curriculum Programme 2024-25

Introduction:

The Transitional Curriculum Program (TCP) 2024-25 was designed to bridge the gap for students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds entering the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S) course at RK University Ayurvedic College, Rajkot. Given the uniqueness of Ayurveda as a medical system and the differences in students' qualifications, this program was aimed at familiarizing them with the basics of Ayurveda, medical ethics, skills development, and the regulatory framework of the profession. The 15-day program, conducted between 14th November and 2nd December 2024, featured a comprehensive series of sessions, workshops, and practical exposures.

Program Highlights:

1. Skill Development and Orientation:

  • Basic Computer Skills & App Installation: Facilitated by Chaya Patel and Alpa Makavana.
  • Medical Ethics: Delivered by Dr. Pankaj Bhange, highlighting ethical responsibilities in Ayurveda.
  • Soft Skills (Leadership, Time Management, Empathy): Mrs. Kinjal Bhatt's session on professional and interpersonal skills
  • Basic Life Support & First Aid: Dr. Parth Devmurari conducted a session on essential emergency medical skills.
  • Yoga and Meditation: Dr. Divya Nair introduced students to wellness practices crucial for Ayurvedic practitioners.
  • Recreational Activities: Organized by Dr. Hemant Bamane, Dr. Bhavin Dubal, and Dr. Ravikumar Parmar to promote holistic well-being.

2. Introduction to Ayurveda & Practical Exposure:

  • Ayurvedic Curriculum Overview: Dr. Hemant Bamane provided insights into the B.A.M.S curriculum and Minimum Standards of Education.
  • Exploring Ayurvedic Hospital: Students visited various departments (OPD, IPD, Procedure Rooms, OT), interacting with patients and learning firsthand about Ayurvedic treatments.
  • Introduction to Various Medical Systems: Dr. Ketan Bhimani provided an overview of traditional and modern medical systems alongside Ayurveda.
  • Ayurveda Preventive & Curative Aspects: Sessions by Dr. Mehul Joshi and Dr. Shreekant Mundada emphasized the role of Ayurveda in modern health practices.
  • Ayurveda's Scope & Future: Dr. L.S. Panigrahy discussed career opportunities and the future of Ayurveda.
  • Vrushayurveda: A specialized talk by Dr. Naveeta Agrawal on Ayurvedic approaches.

3. Motivational and Personal Development:

  • Motivational Speeches: Delivered by prominent figures including Dr. Shreyas Bhalodiya, Dr. Manoj Pande, and Dr. Devisree R.
  • Goal Setting and Self-Empowerment: Sessions by Dr. Alpesh Sorathiya and Dr. Priyanshu Rathod helped students set personal and professional goals for their Ayurvedic career.

4. Health Awareness & Social Responsibility:

  • Health Awareness, Fitness, and Hygiene: Dr. Hemant Bamane discussed health maintenance, fitness, and personal hygiene as part of Ayurvedic practices.
  • Gender Sensitization: Dr. Shweta Shetty conducted a session on understanding gender issues in the workplace and society.
  • Prakriti Parikshan (Constitutional Assessment): Dr. Bhavin Dubal taught students the Ayurvedic principles of Prakriti and Dosha.

5. Technology and Digital Integration:

  • iERP Session: Led by Dhaval Mistri and Dr. Shivangi Molaviya, focusing on integrating digital tools into Ayurvedic education and practice
  • MYSY Scholarships & Digital Gujarat: Mr. Rashmi Bhai introduced students to government initiatives supporting their academic progress.

6. Linguistic Integration(Vadatu Sanskritum):

  • Language and Communication: Dr. Avinash Kansagara conducted a session on Sanskrit and its importance in Ayurvedic texts (Vadatu Sanskritam).

7. Institutional Familiarization:

  • Campus Tour: Led by Mr. Nikul and Ms. Kirti, including visits to key facilities such as the Herbal Garden, Canteen, Pharmacy College, and Sports Club.
  • Committee Introductions: Various institutional committees and their roles were explained by Mrs. Bhavana Patel.

8. Regulatory and Administrative Information:

  • Regulatory Bodies Overview: Dr. Vedanti Pandya introduced students to the governing bodies of Ayurveda in India.
  • Board Registration Process: Dr. Sanjay Jivrajani and Dr. Ashish Trivedi explained the official registration process for the BAMS course.

9. Post-Program Evaluation:

  • Post-Test: Conducted by Dr. Ravikumar Parmar to assess students’ understanding of the program.
  • Feedback Session: Organized by Dr. Bhavin Dubal to gather insights for future improvements.

Coordinators and Support Team: The entire program was coordinated by Dr. Ravikumar Parmar under the guidance of Dr. Manoj Pande (Director), with significant support from Dr. Nikita, Dr. Trupti, Dr. Bhargav, Dr. Bhavin, Dr. Hemant, Dr. Amisha, Dr. Swati, Dr. Namrata, and Dr. Vishikha.
