An Educational visit to Food Industry

An educational visit to Glister Food Industry, located in Parevala, Rajkot, was organized on 22nd September 2025 by the Department of Swasthavritta evum Yoga, RK University Ayurvedic College & Hospital. This insightful excursion was attended by 51 students from the 2nd Professional BAMS program (Admission Batch 2022), offering them a valuable opportunity to witness real-world applications of food safety and processing.

Throughout the visit, students were introduced to various stages of food production, beginning with the collection of raw materials and extending through manufacturing, packaging, labeling, record maintenance, and quality control. The industry experts provided detailed explanations on food safety protocols, the role and responsibilities of food handlers, and occupational safety measures. A particularly enlightening segment focused on aflatoxins and aspergillus contamination in peanuts, emphasizing the importance of cold storage following the production of peanut butter.

Students also gained knowledge about the stringent regulations governing food exports to different countries. Glister Food Industry’s commitment to excellence was evident in its adherence to high-quality standards, backed by certifications from FSSAI, BRC, and HACCP. The facility’s fully automated and hygienic production processes served as a model of modern food industry practices.

The visit was smoothly coordinated by Dr. Divya R. (Associate Professor) and Dr. Nimmi A N (Assistant Professor), whose efforts ensured a well-structured and informative experience for the students. The department extends its sincere gratitude to Director Dr. Manoj Pande for his timely guidance and unwavering support, which played a crucial role in the successful execution of this educational initiative.
