On the occasion of National Geriatric Day, the Department of Kayachikitsa at RK University Ayurvedic College & Hospital organized a meaningful outreach program for final-year BAMS students to the old age home “Dikra Nu Ghar” in Rajkot. The initiative aimed to promote holistic health among the elderly and instill values of empathy and preventive care in budding Ayurvedic professionals.

Program Highlights:

  • Yoga and Pranayama Session: Conducted by students to encourage physical and mental wellness among the residents.
  • Educational Lectures: Dr. Shreekant Mundada and Dr. Vinita Sharma and Devangi Vasani, a final-year student, delivered insightful talks on geriatric diseases, age-related challenges, and preventive healthcare strategies
  • General Health Check-up: Students actively participated in basic health assessments, fostering interaction and care.
  • Distribution of Medicated Oil: As part of Ayurvedic support, medicated oil was distributed to residents to aid in joint and muscular comfort.

The visit served as a dual-purpose initiative—enhancing the well-being of elderly residents and sensitizing students to the importance of geriatric care, compassionate service, and community engagement. It reinforced the Ayurvedic ethos of nurturing health across all stages of life.

This program was conducted under the guidance of our director Dr. Manoj Pande , whose leadership ensured the event’s success and also we appreciate Nikul bhai and Jaydip bhai for smooth conduction of visit
